Ingredients

Ingredients for Baked Salmon Sweet Potato Dog Treats
  • 7.5 oz canned salmon in water
  • 1 cup sweet potato puree
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups brown rice flour

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Prepare the salmon by draining it and mashing it in a mixing bowl, including any soft bones and skin (they’re safe and nutritious for dogs).
  3. Add the sweet potato purée and egg to the salmon, and mix well until fully combined.
  4. Stir in the brown rice flour gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour; if too dry, add a tablespoon of water.
  5. Roll the dough out in between two layers of parchment paper. The thinner you roll the dough, the crispier the dog treats will be.
  6. Place the treats on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the treats are firm.
  7. Cool completely on a wire rack before serving to your pup.

Substitutions

  • Swap salmon for canned sardines in water
  • Use oat flour instead of rice flour
  • Replace sweet potato with pumpkin puree
