Ingredients

Ingredients for Banana Dog Treats
  • 2 bananas, ripe
  • 1/3 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 2 cups rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Blend the cottage cheese until smooth. Spoon it into a small bowl and stir in the chia seeds. Set aside for 5 minutes.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, mix the flour and cinnamon together.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas.
  5. Stir in the cottage cheese mixture.
  6. Add the flour mixture and work into a dough. If it's too dry, add water to bind the mixture.
  7. Roll out the dough in between two sheets of parchment paper to about 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) thickness. Use cookie cutters or cut into shapes with a knife.
  8. Place the treats on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the treats are firm. Flip the treats over after 15 minutes.
  9. Allow the treats to cool completely before serving them to your dog.

Substitutions

  • Replace cottage cheese with plain Greek yogurt
  • Use oat flour instead of rice flour
