Chicken Wrapped Sweet Potato Dog Treats
Two-ingredient chews made by wrapping lean chicken around sweet potato slices. These are dehydrated or baked until firm for a satisfying texture.

Ingredients
- 1 chicken breast, boneless and skinless
- 1 large sweet potato
Steps
- Freeze the chicken breasts for 15-30 minutes to make slicing them thin easier.
- Peel and cut the sweet potato into long sticks, about ½ inch thick.
- Slice the chicken into thin strips (about ½ inch wide and 4-5 inches long).
- Wrap each sweet potato stick with a strip of chicken pressing gently so it sticks.
- Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Place the treats on the baking sheet and bake for 2½ to 3 hours, or until the chicken is fully cooked and dry.
- Cool completely before serving to your dog.
- Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C).
- Place the prepared treats in the air fryer basket in a single layer, don’t overcrowd.
- Air fry for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is cooked and lightly dried.
- Reduce temperature to 200°F (95°C) and continue air frying for another 30-40 minutes to dehydrate slightly for a chewy texture.
- Cool completely before serving to your dog.
- For crispier treats, extend drying time a little longer at low heat.
- Preheat dehydrator to 160°F (70°C).
- Prepare the sweet potato sticks and chicken strips as above.
- Place them evenly on dehydrator trays, making sure they don’t overlap.
- Dehydrate for 6-8 hours, or until the chicken is fully dry and the sweet potato is firm and leathery.
- Cool completely before storing or serving.
- If your dehydrator does not go up to 160°F, you can start at 145°F and extend the drying time until the treats are fully dried.
Substitutions
- Use turkey breast instead of chicken
- Replace sweet potato with thick carrot slices
- Swap sweet potato for butternut squash
