These baked treats use sardines and oats to create a savory, nutrient-dense snack. The inclusion of peanut butter helps bind the dough and adds protein.

Ingredients

- 3.2 oz tinned sardines in water
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter (dog friendly)
- 1 1/2 cups oat flour
Steps
- Set your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper or silicone liner.
- Place the sardines, egg and peanut butter in a blender or food processor and blitz until smooth.
- Pour the mixture in a medium mixing bowl and gradually stir in the oat flour until a dough forms. It should be soft but not sticky. If it’s too wet, add a little more oat flour; if it’s too dry, add a splash of water.
- Either on a floured surface or between two sheet of parchment paper, roll the dough out to about ¼ inch thick. Use a bone shaped cookie cutter or knife to cut out shapes, or simply roll small balls and flatten them slightly with your fingers.
- Place the treats on the prepared tray and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until firm and lightly golden.
- Allow the treats to cool fully on a wire rack before serving or storing.
Substitutions
- Tuna in water instead of sardines
- Rice flour instead of oat flour
