Ingredients

Ingredients for Parsnip Dog Treats
  • 1 large parsnip

Steps

  1. Peel the parsnips and slice them into thin, even rounds or strips. The thinner the slice, the crispier the chips will be. If you use a mandolin be very careful not to slice your fingers!
  2. Optional rinse: Lightly rinse and pat dry to remove excess starch for a better crunch.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Place the parsnip slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding so they crisp evenly.
  5. Cook for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Keep an eye on them during the last few minutes, as thinner slices can brown quickly.
  6. Transfer the chips to a cooling rack or plate and let them cool fully before serving to your dog.
  7. Offer a few chips as a crunchy, wholesome treat!
  8. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  9. Prepare the parsnip as above.
  10. Lay the slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer.
  11. Bake for 35-50 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  12. Remove once golden and crisp, then let cool completely before serving.
  13. Prepare the parsnip as above.
  14. Arrange slices on dehydrator trays without overlapping.
  15. Dry for 6-8 hours, or until the chips are fully dried and crisp.
  16. Allow to cool completely before storing or serving.
