Ingredients

Ingredients for Pork and Rice Dog Food
  • 1 lb lean ground pork
  • 1 oz pork liver, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 2 oz grated carrots
  • 2 oz green beans
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
  • 2 large egg
  • 2 1/2 cups water or dog friendly stock
  • 3 oz canned sardines in water

Steps

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground pork and cook until browned.
  2. Add the liver and cook for 3 minutes.
  3. Add the brown rice, carrots, green beans, turmeric, flaxseed, ginger and water. Stir well.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30-35 minutes until the rice is cooked and liquid absorbed.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the eggs (they will cook in the residual heat), sardines, and parsley.
  6. Let the mixture cool completely before serving or storing.

Substitutions

  • Swap brown rice for cooked quinoa
  • Use peas instead of green beans
