Ingredients for Turkey Dog Food Recipe
  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 2.5 oz chicken livers chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cranberries chopped
  • 1/2 cup broccoli chopped
  • 1/2 cup carrots grated
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cups hiitake mushrooms chopped
  • 1/2 cup defrosted spinach
  • 1 large eggincluding shell
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmericwith a pinch of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

Steps

  1. In a large skillet or pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add the ground turkey.
  2. Cook until fully browned, about 6-8 minutes, breaking up any large pieces.
  3. Add the chicken liver and cook for a further 3-4 minutes until cooked.
  4. Add broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and spinach to the pan. Stir well and cook for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  5. Mix in cranberries, chia seeds, turmeric and a pinch of black pepper. Stir until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  6. Push the mixture aside and crack the egg into the pan. Break up the egg shells with a spoon and crush. (This can be substituted with ground egg shells). Cook the egg in the pan then stir through the turkey mixture.
  7. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely before serving.

Substitutions

  • Ground chicken instead of turkey
  • Butternut squash for pumpkin puree
  • Kale in place of spinach
